Some Etsy Pittsburgh Street Team members participated in this weeks AMHC’s Twilight Market organized by Market Manager Megan Cook of Urban Foodworks & the Farmers Market Alliance. A weekly venue held every Saturday from 3 to 7PM on the corner of Jacksonia & Buena Vista Streets in Pittsburgh’s historical Mexican War Street District, the market features local organic produce, baked goods & other handmade items.

Although usually a vendor at this event myself, due to unforeseeable babysitting issues, I was unable to participate in selling this week. Instead I decided to pack up my kiddos, hightail it out of the South Hills & head to the city for some culture, fun & shopping. We were not disappointed. Although we left the market rather abruptly due to a series of kiddo incidences (homemade ice cream spill, Soda from Belelza Coffeehouse + shaking = explosion, & the topper being a close call involving a parking motorcycle), we had a wonderful time!

East of Taos Trading Company sells some yummy salsa mixes, rubs & seasonings. My oldest kiddo couldn’t get enough of the samples (& hopefully didn't double dip too much)!
Cynthia of Third Day Luxury Soaps & Healing Gardens, LLC offers some lovely scented bath & body products that she makes from scratch using premium quality organic ingredients.
The Rise Above Bakery & Café, a local bakery located on Ardmore Blvd. in Forest Hills, has a mouth watering assortment of breads to choose from. My youngest kiddo, an extremely picky eater, loved the buttery French bread for sure!
The staple of the market! Locally grown, fresh & organic produce that’s excellent in quality, flavor & price! Yay for the AMHC!!!
Our own fearless & talented Team leader Lz of LzRocks aka Octarine, not only offers her fabulous wire wrapped, dichroic glass & resin jewelry but has become a skilled knitter! She’s also a self taught musician & serenaded us with her lovely ukulele!
Another talented Team member Jenn of Jenn Mack Fiberworks aka Hairycarrot, features her reconstructed clothing line at the market. I couldn’t resist buying one of her jeans turned awesome skirt. I’m seriously considering having her reconstruct all of my pants into these skirts!!!

Another Twilight Market

We've had our third time at Twilight Market, and with the sun going down earlier now (oh no!) the market is moving its hours up to 3-6:30.
Our next night there is August 30. The market will run weekly until the farmers are out of produce.

Etsy Teams

Here's our write up in the Etsy Teams Digest:
EtsyPittsburgh has been all about motivation this summer! Members have been super busy teaming up to vend at events like the city’s unique nomadic indie craft fair I Made It! Market, spearheaded by team member zippull. By getting together at fairs and markets to root each other on and to share spaces, tents, supplies, advice, and laughs, Team Pittsburgh has established a supportive crafting community in the Steel City! To find out more about the team, its recent goings on, and why you should join, visit their Team blog. See some of their fabulous creations in the team’s Flickr pool.

Here's the link. We're in the middle of the page.
Thanks Silentlotus for the excellent write-up.

Charmed by Nature

Charmed by Nature, originally uploaded by hairycarrot.

"The twilight market is a tiny bit of heaven! I brought home so many goodies...bread, spices, pierogies, blueberries, zukes... The smells coming from my kitchen right now are amazing! The other vendors were SO friendly! I found a loaf of bread on my table at the end and didn't even get to say thanks! You guys have to meet the woman who has a farm in Mercer... she has turkeys, goats, sheep...a garden..she also spins her wool and knits and makes soap from the goat's milk. She showed us goat skins that were tanned using the goat's brains. I could totally be this woman's groupie!:)
I had some sales which is always nice and had a great time hanging out with Lz and EJ and Jenn. So many fun ideas!
I think my blueberry pie is done..mmmmm
